snowy commute (or not)
The good thing about not owing a car anymore: I don't feel obligated as a native Midwesterner to try to drive to work anyway.

The bad thing about relying on public transit to get to work: (via the Metro Transit site)

Routes temporarily suspended.

8, 9, 11, 19, 22, 23, 25, 27, 31, 32, 35, 37, 38, 39, 45, 46, 51, 53, 55, 57, 64, 68, 74, 79, 99, 105, 107, 114, 122, 123, 125, 126, 133, 143, 149, 152, 154, 155, 158, 159, 161, 162, 164, 167, 170, 173, 175, 179, 182, 183, 187, 191, 192, 196, 197, 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 210, 211, 213, 216, 217, 219, 220, 222, 225, 229, 233, 236, 237, 242, 243, 244, 247, 249, 250, 256, 257, 260, 261, 265, 266, 268, 272, 277, 303, 304, 306, 308, 316, 330, 355, 373, ST 540, ST 555, ST 556, ST 560, ST 564, all 800 routes canceled, 912, 921, 925, 929, 981, 982, 984, 986, 987, 988, 989, 994, 995.

Don't see your bus route on the list? It's on i's adverse weather route. Or better yet, "an unpublished reroute"!

Let's see if tomorrow ends up being the second snow day away from work...

exactly. And guess which bus is making it in and out of Ballard on a routine basis? The good ol' slow as molasses 44. I take back all (well, most) of my whining about how slow and aggravating the route is. Yay 44!
Of course, they're not using articulated busses, so I had to let one pass me by because it was too packed to get on. But another one came within several minutes!
Of course, you are on a hill now, which makes things much more challenging. Enjoy your snow day!

Ahh, the good old 44. Sarah just /loved/ that bus! ;)

We'll see tomorrow. When I tried to look up the Sound Transit information for my 522 bus this morning, their site was down most of the time and completely unhelpful when it was up. Good job dealing with the traffic, literally and technologically ST!

It's so great that you share this with us
Hello.
@KEGNFOOLAD is an awesome site and full of very helpful ppl.I just scanned back through this thread and can't believe that no one has stated not the burn at more than 4X(shame on you alkohol...LOL). The highest quality backups are done at 4X, check out this thread... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262544Not sure about SONIC, I have it but have never used it. Try this free program: http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download Give it a try, reduce your burn speed and see if you can get a flawless backup.
